About

Lynn and Steve moved out west in 2010 and have found themselves settling on Gabriola, one of the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada.

Lynn Bowerman, the farmer, has a passion for growing food.  She spent several years in Ontario on 1 and 2 acre market gardens. She can be spotted hard at work on tinyfarmblog.com, a great resource for all issues of small scale farming.

She completed a one year Horticultural Program at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo.  Lynn is also working towards her accredation in Horticultural Therapy and envisions working on her farm with youth and young adults in exploring issues and building character through growing food.

Outside of farming Lynn enjoys music, art, knitting and as many other activities that she can put into her day.

Steve Bishop, the farm help and Patent Illustrator, enjoys working alongside Lynn when called upon.  He helps in several aspects of the farm, including any design and build work to moving loads of manure from one spot to the other.

When not working alongside Lynn, Steve can mainly be found working and growing his Patent Illustration business, Illustrator Steve, now in its second decade.  His passion for small business spills over into his work with Lynn and developing her market garden and other ventures.  He also enjoys music, cooking and the outdoors.

In October 2013, Steve and Lynn added to their little family welcoming the birth of Cecelia.  She loves to be in the field and her favourite food is broccoli.  As Lynn is lucky enough to stay home with our sweet girl, the farm has taken a little bit of a back seat. We are still there but the field is smaller and the weeds are larger! We welcome any help to continue to provide food for ourselves and our community.

We look forward to sharing all of our experiences and adventures with you as we build our life on Gabriola.
